A Political Stir in Mbeere North: Will Newton Karish’s Campaign Prevail?
In a bold and energetic display, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka ignited the spirits of supporters at Kabubua Market on November 16, 2025. Musyoka, with unwavering confidence, predicted a sweeping victory for Democratic Party candidate Newton Karish in the upcoming by-election, scheduled for November 27, 2025.
“The enthusiasm here today is a testament to the people’s unprompted support against the ruling establishment,” Musyoka proclaimed from atop a vehicle. He emphasized the residents’ readiness to join the “Operation Funga Viosks” movement, a movement aimed at “saving Kenya.”
“On November 27, 2025, by 8 AM, you will show the world how you decide matters by overwhelmingly choosing Newton Karish as your MP,” Musyoka declared, leaving no doubt about his confidence in a landslide win.
But here’s where it gets controversial…
Despite a heavy police presence, Musyoka praised the resilience of Mbeere North residents. He framed the by-election as a critical step in a broader political struggle, a struggle for the people’s voice.
“You have made it clear that you will lead with Operation Funga Viosks and send Newton Karish to Parliament. Together, we will rebuild Kenya step by step,” Musyoka said, calling for unity beyond the vote.
However, Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua presented a different narrative. Gachagua positioned the by-election as a contest between President William Ruto’s camp and the people of Mbeere. Speaking at a church service, Gachagua highlighted the absence of Governor Cecily Mbarire from the area and questioned the legitimacy of her candidate.
“The people of Mbeere have a history of defiance. They rejected President Moi’s candidate in 1994, and they will not be intimidated now. Mbarire should respect the people’s dignity,” Gachagua stated.
As the campaign tensions rise, Karish reported a plot to disrupt his rally, claiming law enforcement had occupied the intended rally field. He accused the governor of involvement and alleged government handouts to sway youth votes.
“How can we be accused of disrupting our own rally?” Karish questioned.
The event showcased a charged political atmosphere as Mbeere North voters prepare to make their voices heard in a closely watched by-election.
Will Newton Karish’s campaign prevail? Only the voters of Mbeere North hold the answer.
