Oscar Piastri’s Take on the Las Vegas Grand Prix: A Positive Outlook Despite Uncertainty
Oscar Piastri, a McLaren driver, expressed optimism despite the challenges faced during the opening day of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. With limited running time in the second practice session, Piastri managed to secure 14th place on the timesheets, but he remains confident about the car’s performance.
In an interview after the session, Piastri highlighted the positives, stating, ‘I think FP1 was pretty good. Some things to work on, but overall, it was a pretty good session. FP2, I did two laps for the whole session. It’s difficult to know exactly where we stand, but I believe there’s still plenty of room for improvement and learning.’
When comparing the car’s performance to last year’s Las Vegas Grand Prix, one of McLaren’s most challenging weekends, Piastri noted, ‘I think we’ve made progress. It’s hard to pinpoint our exact position due to the evolving track conditions, especially with the wet start. However, we made some adjustments in FP2 that felt promising. We’ll continue to fine-tune the car overnight and assess our progress.’
Despite the limited running, Piastri maintains a positive outlook, acknowledging, ‘I feel okay. While more laps would have been ideal, I anticipate the track will continue to change throughout the weekend. We’ll monitor the weather and adapt accordingly.’
